Four Ways To Prevent Procrastination

Procrastination is something that happens to the best of us. Even though sometimes we can procrastinate productively, it can more often than not be counterproductive. To prevent procrastination, there are some things that can be done.

Remind yourself
Get an agenda, Google Calendars, your iCal, or whatever calendar app you use, and write down every assignment or objective you have to do. You don't want to be stuck in bed at 8 PM and realize you forgot to do 36 things that are due at 11:59 pm or the next morning.

Turn off your phone
Phones can be such big distractions, so turning off your phone is the best ideal for being productive. If you need your phone for a timer app or for music, you can put it on Do Not Disturb mode or Airplane mode. The difference between Do Not Disturb and Airplane mode is that Airplane mode cuts off cellular data and wifi, and Do Not Disturb simply turns off all notifications.

Make sure your workspace is distraction free
Clean up your workspace, remove any distracting items such as books you aren't using, your laptop if you have no need for it, etc etc. Having a clean workspace will increase productivity.

Just do it
In the words of Shia Lebeouf, " JUST DO IT!". When class is over, go to a quiet space, whether that is your home, the library, or the success/tutoring center and just do your work. Getting your work done ASAP will make you feel a lot better and you will feel more productive.
