Three Wrong Reasons To Start A Blog

by - Monday, September 03, 2018

There are plenty of good reasons to start a blog, but unfortunately, sometimes people start blogs for the wrong reason.

Some people blog just for the money. Money is a good motivator to start blogging, but it shouldn't be your only reason for starting a blog. Just like how it's easy to tell if someone is making Youtube videos or streaming on Twitch for the money, it's very easy to tell if someone is just blogging just for the money because their posts will be half-baked and have very little meaning. Also, there's a very small chance you'll actually get paid for your blogging skills if your only motivator is money instead of creating quality content. That alone is why some bloggers abandon their blogs after a few years of not getting paid.

The misconception that blogging is an easy job
This point ties in with the previous point, as most people think that all you need to be a blogger is to make a few half-baked posts per week. That can be far from wrong, because blogging is in no way easy, especially if you are doing everything by yourself. This means that you are serving as photographer, marketer, admin, errand runner, etc etc.

Internet Fame
Internet fame is nice, but in most cases, the group or person just got lucky enough. Internet fame is hard to achieve now than it was a few years ago, and most people can see if you're creating content just to become internet famous because your work will be half-baked.

What are some other reasons why people shouldn't start a blog?
