Why It's Important To Do Clear Outs of Your Social Media

by - Sunday, September 30, 2018

I've been doing several clear outs of my social media on Twitter and Facebook specifically. There are many reasons for this, but I'm going to go over the biggest reasons why you should.

Offensive or embarrassing statuses, photos, and tweets
Having offensive or embarrassing things on your social media can have a negative impact and in more than one way. Recently, a few influencers have been under fire for offensive tweets and photos, and a few well-known people in the entertainment business have been fired or been under fire for things they said years ago. By doing regular clear outs of your social media, you could avoid having something you said six years ago surface and get into huge trouble with your boss.

There might be some things that you don't want certain people to see.
There might be some things that wouldn't be deemed offensive or embarrassing, but you wouldn't want your parents, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin, dog's cousin's aunt, or friend to see. Some examples include that shot that shows off your butt or even nights at the club.

Better for job searches
Employers are now using social media more to find potential employees, and you wouldn't want a potential employer to stumble across a video of your wild nights from university.

Stuff that might not have been offensive when you tweeted/made it a status might be offensive now
In the ever-changing social society of today's age, stuff that might have not been deemed offensive when you said it/tweeted it in 2012 might now be offensive and get certain people riled up.
