The Pros and Cons of Being a Lone Wolf

by - Saturday, November 17, 2018

I've always been a lone wolf sort of character-I have a few online friends but no real life ones, but it's something I've gotten comfortable with over the past few years. However, there are some pros and some cons about being a lone wolf.

Pros:
You get to see what people are really like
This has proven so true, especially online since everyone thinks that just because they have a username or if it's their own Facebook profile, they think that they can get away with whatever they say and act online. I've learned that whatever people post online is their real personality. This has lead me to unfriend a lot of people over the past few years because of their real personality.

Having a few friends around
I have a few online friends that I really would love to meet in real life one day because they're just awesome people to be around. I'm one of those people who'd rather have a few friends I can trust than have thousands of "friends" that I can't even trust because one of them is going to stab me in the back.

You know yourself best when you're by yourself
Over the past few years, I've slowly started to learn about myself more and more, and it's lead to a few subtle life changes. Being a lone wolf means that I know what's sort of best for me, and I have my own goals instead of following the crowd.

Cons:
It's hard to make friends
Because of my lone wolf nature, it is incredibly hard for me to make friends. This is because I don't want to waste time on people who are going to abandon or leave me in a year, or I end up not liking them a year or two down the road and unfriend them. It's not that I'm bored with people, but rather my personality clashes with theirs.

Stubbornness
Being a lone wolf also leads to me being stubborn in my ways-if I want something I will stop at nothing until I get it. This can be bad when it comes to financial decisions because even though some of the financial decisions I make are good, it can prove problematic if I waste my money on something I didn't need, like makeup and clothing.
