My Favorite Foundations for Oily Skin

by - Saturday, December 22, 2018

I am an oily girl. No matter what time of year it is, I will produce a lot of oil, which makes finding liquid foundations a real hassle for me. However, I've discovered a few favorites that either mattify my skin or don't exacerbate my oiliness.

No7 Airbrush Away Foundation
This is a drop foundation, meaning that it is buildable. The one thing I love about drop foundations is that they don't make me any oilier than I already am, and they give a beautiful, natural finish. The way I apply this is to basically put a whole dropper's forth onto the brush and then buff it in, because dripping it onto my brush is too time-consuming, but strangely, even when I apply that much, it still doesn't make me oily.

Nyx Total Control Drop Foundation
This is yet another drop foundation, but I actually prefer this one over the No7 drop foundation for several reasons. The Nyx Total Control Drop Foundation has a strange mattifying effect that I didn't expect from a buildable foundation like this, and it doesn't make me oilier, much like the No7 foundation. I apply this foundation the same way I apply the No7 Airbrush Away foundation: use a whole dropper's worth, and like the Airbrush Away foundation, it doesn't make me oily no matter how much I put on.

The Body Shop Mattifying Clay Foundation
This is my favorite liquid foundation for oily skin. Not only is it affordable, it also contains clay, which is supposedly great for oily skin. I only need a little bit to get a full-coverage look with the The Body Shop foundation, so I don't waste any product at all. Win-win.

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue
The BareMinerals Complexion Rescue is the only tinted moisturizer I love, because other tinted moisturizers are either too sheer or they clog my pores, but this does neither of those things. I love this for summer mostly, but I will wear it during other times of the year when I want something light or feel like using it. The Complexion Rescue is a hybrid between a CC cream and a tinted moisturizer, and it does not clog your pores, no matter how much you apply.

No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation
The No7 Beautifully Matte foundation is another affordable find that I love. The bottle itself is plastic, so you can take it if you're traveling without the fear of it breaking, and it's a lightweight mousse-like formula. It doesn't entirely feel matte, but it feels matte enough to last for a good 6-8 hours (around the length of a school day or a work shift).
