The Autumn/Winter Mauve Lip Edit

by - Monday, December 17, 2018

Mauve lipsticks and lip products are something I definitely love for autumn and winter. Mauve lipsticks are definitely a tad bit darker than the usual nudes and neutrals I wear, which makes them quite appropriate for this time of year. That being said, here are some of the mauve shades I definitely love.

Tarte Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Birthday Suit
This is a Sephora-exclusive color, meaning it's only available in Sephora stores and the Sephora website. However, I do love the Creamy Matte Lip Paint formula as it's comfortable to wear, but it doesn't dry down all the way so it will leave a stain on your cup or your food. Despite that, it's one of the most comfortable and one of my favorite liquid lipsticks that I own. Birthday Suit is a mauve that is slightly more nude, making it a good "my lips but better" color.

Beauty by Popsugar Sweet Stx Satin Matte Lip Color in First Kiss
Beauty by Popsugar is relatively new and I didn't know that Popsugar made a beauty line until I saw that the Sweet Stx Satin Matte Lip Color was on sale in one of Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty events (the autumn one). The Satin Matte Lip Colors are comfortable, and smell slightly minty, reminding me strongly of the Revlon lip crayons. First Kiss is a slightly more purple mauve, but it's still neutral enough for everyday wear.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Lumiere
I begrudgingly admit that I love Colourpop. Colourpop is a brand that used to be online only, but since then, they are available in Ulta stores and are renowned for being affordable. The Lippie Stix in Lumiere is a beautiful neutral mauve, and even though it is a Matte Lippie Stix, it still feels very comfortable to wear. Lumiere is also a color that was released in collaboration with YouTuber KathleenLights.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips in Dopey
Again, I love Colourpop, and my favorite liquid lipstick formula they have is their Ultra Satin Lips. It does not dry down completely, so you will stain whatever your mouth touches, and it can be a bit oily at times, but the comfort outweighs the negatives. Dopey is a mauve that is more pink toned than the other mauves I own, but it's still slightly purple toned.

MAC Mehr
Everyone and their mother owns at least one MAC lipstick, and I am no exception. Mehr is a blue-toned mauve pink, but because it's more pink, much like Dopey, it can be worn as an everyday lipstick. Mehr is also part of MAC's Matte lipstick range, but like most bullet matte lipsticks, it is comfortable to wear.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Sake
Bite Beauty is one of those intriguing brands because their makeup is apparently food-grade (although I would not recommend eating your Bite lipstick). Nontheless, their Amuse Bouche lipsticks are opaque, yet comfortable and they feel light. Sake is a purple-toned mauve, but even so, it makes a great neutral lipstick.

Lipstick Queen Sinner Lipstick in Mauve
Lipstick Queen is a relatively new brand to me, and one thing they're famous for is lipsticks. The Sinner lipstick is the counterpart to their Saint lipstick. Whereas the Saint lipsticks are sheer, the Sinner lipsticks are opaque, and I love the packaging on the Sinner lipstick: it's a slightly metallic black-blue. The Sinner Mauve lipstick is more of a purple-tinged mauve, but like Sake, it can be worn daily.

Lipstick Queen Chess Lipstick in Bishop
One thing I absolutely love about Lipstick Queen's products is the themes behind the products, and the Chess Lipstick in Bishop is no different as the Chess Lipstick is based after chess pieces. Bishop is a neutral mauve, and my favorite mauve out of the bunch as it's not too slick but not too matte.

What are your favorite mauve lipsticks?
