Review: CeraVe Foaming Cleanser

by - Tuesday, February 26, 2019

CeraVe has been hailed on so many levels because they are great for all skin types, especially those of us with oily skin (*hint hint*). I needed a new face wash, and I decided to go for the Foaming Facial Cleanser.

The Foaming Facial Cleanser is made for normal to oily skin, and I unfortunately resemble an oil slick most days. The cleanser also claims to cleanse and remove oil without disrupting the skin barrier. I admit, I have no idea what the skin barrier is or how it works, but the general gist I get is that it's the outermost layer of the skin and is made of lipids and cells, and when it's damaged that's why you get redness and irritation. The cleanser also contains 3 essential ceramides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid. I've heard a bit about ceramides, and that's how brands like CeraVe get their name, and niacinamide I've heard from the coveted skincare brand The Ordinary, and hyaluronic acid is important because it hydrates the skin and is great for those of you with dry skin.

The cleanser does foam a bit, and it doesn't clog pores, which is great. It also doesn't leave me feeling too terribly dry afterward either, as I've experienced with other facial cleansers targeted for oily and acne-prone skin. The cleanser is also fragrance-free, but what that encompasses is that it smells slightly like non-scented lotion, but I don't mind.

All in all, I love this cleanser for my oily skin and will use it once I've finished up my bar soap.

Have you tried anything from CeraVe before?
