My Most Loved Shades when it Comes to Makeup

by - Monday, September 30, 2019

Taking another page from Rebecca, I was inspired by her post about her most loved shades when it came to beauty and decided to put my own twist on that post.

Eyes:

Berry: Urban Decay Naked Cherry
When it comes to eyeshadows, I love a good berry eye as it's somewhere between a red and pink, and here we have the Naked Cherry palette from Urban Decay. I never expected to even buy the palette, but here we are. I've fallen in love with all of the berry tones in the palette and it's quickly become one of my most used palettes.

Blush Pink: Stila Matte n' Metal Eyeshadow Palette
When it comes to an everyday look, I tend to reach for the blush toned palettes in my collection because let's face it: nobody wants to wear a boring brown-toned eye to work or school every day. The Stila Matte n' Metal palette is sadly discontinued, but I love how it has some blush toned shades as well as some everyday boring shades like brown to mix it up.

Red: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance
I love a good red eyeshadow, because it's a stark contrast to my dark brown eyes, and enter the ABH Modern Renaissance palette, which has become one of my most used palettes.

Champagne: Kiko Colour Lasting Cream Shadow (shade Champagne)
I'm a sucker for champagne eyeshadow, as it's the perfect one-wash wonder, and it's a great substitute for my normal palettes if I don't feel like whipping one out. I'm also quite a fan of a cream shadow as they're so easy to put on-no faffing about, just a few swipes with a dense brush or finger if you don't have long nails like me.

Pale silver: Kiko Cream Crush Shadow (shade Pearly Silver Rose)
Another shade I'm a fan of for my eyes is a sheer silver-whether it's embedded with rose or not. Sadly, this Kiko Cream Crush shadow is sold out, but it is the best silver eyeshadow I have-sheer, not too glittery, and with a hint of rosy pink.

Rose Gold-Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss (shade Frosted)
I'm a fan of rose gold, and eyeshadow is no exception as I pull out my Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss in the shade Frosted, which is a beautiful rose gold that leans slightly bronze.

Lips
Pink Nude: YSL Rouge Volupte (shade Nude Lavallaire), Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick (shade Pillow Talk), Milani Color Statement Lipstick (shade Naturally Chic)
The number one lip shade I will always be a fan of is the pink nude. It's a classic and it brightens up any complexion, and my two favorite pink nudes are the YSL Rouge Volupte in Nude Lavallaire and the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk.

Vintage/Dusky Rose: Kiko Creamy Lipgloss (shade Vintage Rose), Kiko Stylo Lipstick (shade Vintage Rose), Milani Color Statement Lipstick (shade Rose Femme) Fresh Sugar Lip Balm (shade Petal), Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick (shade Patina), Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick (shade Dusty Rose)
Of course, I love a good vintage rose-the good old rosy pink with just a hint of brown to make it look that much more neutral, with Kiko's Stylo Lipstick being a perfect brown-toned rosy pink. Another rose toned lipstick color I love is the dusky rose-that perfect rosy pink that's not too light, but not too dark, and the Fresh Sugar Lip Balm in Petal is the perfect example of that as it leans slightly rosy, but not overly so. The Stila and Anastasia Liquid Lipsticks in Patina and Dusty Rose also lean that way-rosy pink but not too pink.

Cheeks
Neutral Pink: Laura Geller Baked Blush n' Brighten (shade Pink Buttercream)
I love a good neutral pink blush as it's the perfect alternate for my nude pink and mauve colored blushes, and it brings a bit more color into my face. The Laura Geller Baked Blush n' Brighten in the shade Pink Buttercream is a neutral pink that is bright enough to make my face look livelier.

Mauve: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (shade Mood Exposure), Max Factor Creme Puff Blush (shade Nude Mauve)
One of my go to shades in blush is a mauve because it's flattering against my neutral skintone, and mauve blushes are very difficult to come by. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure is a great mauve that isn't too deep, and the Max Factor Creme Puff blush is an exact dupe for the Hourglass blush.

Nude Pink: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush (shade Exposed), Milani Rose Powder Blush (shade Romantic Rose)
A nude pink blush is an essential in my makeup collection-mostly because they go with everything, and the Tarte Blush and Milani Blush are essentially the same color-that perfect, barely there, slightly deep nude pink.

Nails
Burgundy: Essie Wicked, Bordeaux
I'm always sporting some sort of dark color on my nails, and burgundy is the perfect alternate to black. My personal favorites are both from Essie, and they are Wicked, which is a very deep red that looks very close to black, and Bordeaux, which is more of a wine red

Black: Essie Licorice
If I'm not sporting a dark red, I'm almost always wearing Essie's Licorice, which is the deepest black you can think of. Other blacks don't go as deep as Essie, which is why I'll always repurchase this color.

Nude: Essie Minimalist, Ballet Slippers, Butter London Nail Polish (shade Nude Stilettos)
I love a good nude nail polish, and my favorites are Ballet Slippers from Essie, which is a milky pinky nude, Minimalist, which is slightly more beige toned, and Nude Stilettos from Butter London which is sadly sold out, which is the best nude color out of all three options and is close to my skin color except a bit pinkier.

Rose gold: Butter London Nail Polish (Arm Candy)
As always, I love a good rose gold everywhere, even on my nails, and Arm Candy is a subtle rose gold.
