How My Content Will Change in 2020

by - Tuesday, January 07, 2020

This year, I've decided to make some changes to my blog, much like I did last year when I switched to only posting 3 days a week, but this time, I'm throwing more to the blog changing fire.

Putting less pressure on myself
Between paying off stuff, my classes, and my job, I've been finding writing on this blog regularly quite difficult, so I've decided to cut myself some slack and write only when inspiration hits. That might mean streaks with no posts, and streaks where I write every single day. It really all comes down to how inspired I feel and what's been going on in my real life.

More lifestyle posts, less beauty posts
Like probably all beauty blogs out there, Written by Winnie started out as a beauty blog but has gradually changed to a lifestyle blog, mostly because I have lost all interest in writing about beauty. I feel like whenever I write about beauty, it's all forced and isn't the authentic me, so I've decided to cut back on writing about beauty unless the fancy strikes.

More promoting of old posts
If you follow me on Twitter (writtenbywinnie), you'll see I've promoted a bunch of my old blog posts, and I enjoy doing that more than I like writing a new blog post, so I will continue to do that.

Deleting and re-writing old posts
As per tradition, I've deleted some more old posts, mostly makeup posts and some lifestyle posts I wasn't happy with. I do this yearly clear out of my blog so as to not clog this little space with content I'm no longer happy with and I'm also re-writing different versions of old blog posts to make them better.

Not focus on how many views a post gets
I've decided to not look at numbers for this year and instead, write about things that make me happy. I've been finding that the number of views directly affects how I would view a post-if it gets less than the desired amount of views, I would always end up deleting it.

Make content I like
This year, I decided to write content that I like, meaning that my blog is going to be more lifestyle oriented instead of beauty, although to be fair, it has been more lifestyle oriented since 2018. I've lost a lot of interest in blogging about beauty, but I'll make the odd beauty post here and there.

Make more gaming videos
This next bit is related completely to my Youtube, but ever since discovering I can connect my hotspot to my Xbox, I've been having more fun with friends and recording with my Elgato to make more content. I've recently come out with a video of what me and a bunch of friends did on New Year's Eve/Day and it was the most fun I've had in a long time.

What are you doing to up your content this year?
